Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to run the directory:

• Account email. If you create a client or barber account, we collect your email address to sign you in. We use a one-time login link (OTP). We do not store a password.
• Quiz answers. If you take the quiz, we collect your answers (hair type, desired style, budget, vibe, things you want to avoid, and any free-text notes) to match you with barbers.
• Location. When you search or take the quiz, we collect the location you choose (city, a formatted address, latitude/longitude, and a place identifier) so we can show nearby barbers and rank them by distance. This comes from the location you select, not from silent device tracking.
• Saved favorites. If you save a barber to your account, we store that favorite.
• Photos (optional). If you choose to, you can upload current-hair or inspiration photos with your quiz. These are optional and are stored privately.
• Booking-link clicks.When you tap through to a barber's external booking link, we record that a click happened so we can understand directory activity.
• Barber profile information. If you list as a barber, we collect the profile details you submit (shop name, location, styles, specialties, portfolio images, and your external booking link).

• To match clients with barbers and power search, filters, and the quiz.
• To run account features such as saved favorites and recent results.
• To display approved barber profiles in the public directory.
• To operate, secure, debug, and improve the service.
• To respond to your support, privacy, or listing-removal requests.

We do notsell your personal information, and we do not process appointments or payments on the site. Booking happens on each barber's own external booking provider.

We use a small set of trusted providers to run Find My Barber. They process information on our behalf, only as needed to provide their service:

• Supabase: authentication, database, and file storage.
• Google Places / Maps: location autocomplete and geocoding for the address you choose.
• OpenAI: converts quiz answers into embeddings and generates short match-reason text used for ranking and explanations.
• Vercel: website hosting and delivery, plus anonymous, cookieless usage analytics and performance metrics (Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights).
• Sentry: error and performance monitoring, so we can detect, diagnose, and fix crashes and bugs in the service.

When you click through to book, you leave Find My Barberand continue on the barber's own booking provider, which has its own privacy practices.

We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then delete or de-identify it unless we are required to keep it. Quiz submissions and match results are retained to power your results and account history.

We protect data with database row-level security so accounts and favorites are scoped to their owner, and uploaded quiz photos are stored privately and served through expiring signed links. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

Find My Barber is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will remove it.

We use a small number of essential cookies to keep you signed in (managed by our authentication provider). These are required for login and account features to work.

For usage analytics and performance, we use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights. These are anonymous and cookieless. They measure aggregate page views and loading performance (Web Vitals) without setting tracking cookies, using cross-site identifiers, or building advertising profiles. We also use Sentry to capture errors and basic performance data so we can find and fix problems. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) gives you certain rights regarding your personal information.

Categories we collect: identifiers (such as email), geolocation you provide, internet activity (such as booking-link clicks), and other information you submit (quiz answers and optional photos). We collect these for the business purposes described above.

You have the right to:

• Know and access the personal information we have collected about you.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, though we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

We may update this policy as the product changes. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice.
